The most desirable things in a relationship — loyalty, honesty, responsibility, commitment, selflessness, and the willingness to make sacrifices — are not determined by how much someone loves you. In fact, they are determined by that person’s character and inner values. Someone who is egocentric, perfidious, craven, and shallow cannot give you those things, no matter how deeply they claim to love you. Stop blaming them for their thoughtlessness. Stop accuse them of not being loving and caring. Instead, ask yourself why you have to stick with such a person in the first place.
